Each year Marni offers Story Saturdays, daylong Saturday workshops exploring a theme through storytelling, at the Story Studio in her home in Schenectady, NY. Right off the New York State Thruway near Albany, the Story Studio is easy to get to and there's lots of free parking.
During Story Saturdays, Marni tells tales and leads exercises to help us find stories within. We listen deeply and speak from the heart. No prep needed, but you CAN work on a story in process. We artfully share our story wealth. Bring photos or mementos or just your memory and imagination. We¹ll explore!
Marni will be offering, on Saturdays from 9:30 a.m.- 4:30 p.m. at the beginning of 2006, the following workshops. They are suitable for ANYONE interested in the art of storytelling.
| Jan. 21 | MAKING LIFE STORIES
By recollecting the memorable moments of childhood, our teen years, and adulthood, we reconnect to our dreams, make sense of life¹s lessons, and recognize our capacity for walking Life's path We'll share tales of traumas and triumphs. We¹ll laugh, shed a tear or two, and go home wiser. |
| Mar. 4 | TALES OF ADMIRABLE WOMEN
Women have touched our lives in powerful ways. Come share memories, even story characters, and tales of women from history. Bring a tale or let one surface from within. |
| Apr. 8 | TALES OF BLOSSOMING
Spring brings a sense of the possible. Be gone winter! We have been blossoming for years. We carry tales of blooming and coming to fruition. Celebrate the season with stories! |
| Apr. 17-20 | DOUG LIPMAN WORKSHOP AT MARNI'S HOUSE
In this three-and-a-half day workshop, you'll have a chance to be coached intensively - and supportively - by one of the leading teachers of storytelling in the country. |
| Apr. 29 | STORYING THE REST OF YOUR LIFE
For retirees and forward-thinkers. We’ll “story” our hopes and dreams for the future. Your thoughts and words create your life! Come THINK BIG about the future. |
Cost: One workshop: $35 pre-paid two weeks in advance or $40 at the door.
